Petition Drive to Keep Broomall's Tract Green
Updated: Feb 9, 2019
Asking Media Borough Council to rezone to MERC

Keep Media Green is launching a petition drive to call on Media Borough Council to pass an ordinance rezoning the 12-acre Broomall’s tract from Residential (R-2/R-3) to Recreational (Municipal, Educational, Recreational, and Educational).
Below is the text of the petition we’re asking Media residents to sign:
We, the undersigned residents of Media, PA, call on Media Borough Council to prioritize the preservation of 45 acres of contiguous green, open space in Western Media. Recognizing that the 33-acre Glen Providence Park is currently zoned as Municipal, Educational, Recreational, and Community (MERC), we support expansion of the MERC zone to include the 12-acre Broomall’s tract. The MERC zone expansion would:
1. Permanently protect the 45 acres of contiguous green, open space that forms a single ecological unit of unique natural beauty, wildlife habitat, and woodlands.
2. Ensure that the land in the new MERC zone will continue to be used for recreational use in perpetuity.
3. Allow for Broomall’s Lake Country Club to continue to own and operate its private recreational facility but not permit housing development on the tract.
Toward these ends, we call on the Media Borough Council to use its lawful municipal power to rezone the Broomall’s tract from Residential (R-2/R-3) to Municipal, Educational, Recreational, and Community (MERC).
